I'm gonna kick this off being cynical about an event being organised on Facebook, supposedly to teach oil companies a lesson by not buying fuel on April 1st.
It won't work, and here's why.
Fuel prices will go up, because the next day there is going to be a massive surge in sales. This, with the previous days slump will cause the companies to put their prices up to maximise their profits. And as with every price rise in fuel, it won't go down the day after, or the day after that. So that means that everyone gets charged more for longer, and what with inflation rising further and further, people are going to have even less money than ever, which will filter down, pushing inflation higher. It's a never ending circle.
Secondly, Rebecca Black. Ok, shes rubbish, and no one likes her. What did all the moaning do? Give her 40 MILLION! hits on YouTube. I'm not going to berate her, thats been done enough. I'm going to berate the idiots who moaned and beguiled her, giving her endless publicity, that was clever, wasn't it?
Now I realise and appreciate that I am also giving her free publicity, albeit not in such a shock and awe 'I hope you cut yourself and die' sort of way. My opinion will not reach millions of people, unless this gets reposted, but hell, I've got more chance of winning the lottery than this being reposted.
I'm more giving you all a warning. Don't bitch about shit singers, if you do you could just make a star out of them, after all, who hasn't heard of Rebecca Black by now?
This post is actually a repost from my facebook account, but because that was written on thursday the final bit (this one) needed to be changed. originally this was speculating about the mass protest in london yesterday (saturday) but since this is posted on sunday, its out of date. basically, i predicted a riot, vastly outnumbered police, who were also inept and would fail at some point to contain the situation. looks like I was right. over 200 arrests, occupations, criminal damage, an occupation of trafalgar square, it all happened, especially since the number of protesters is ranging from guestimates of 250000 to 500000 people depending on what you read.
Will it do any help? who knows? all I know is that yet again the tories have been shown that popular opinion is against them, less than a year in, and they refuse to accept it. whats going to happen? i have no idea, comments and odds will be appreciated though.
I've been Tom, I've had a moan, and I will again next week. Thanks for reading.
